I wasl exhausted at the end of my drinking days too, just exhausted. Deciding to stop drinking was such a relief. I hope that you continue to read and post.

I can't put it any better than Anna. Get some sleep and let us know how you're doing in the morning. It'll be okay; you've done a good thing by reaching out for help

We have an expression here .. "la nuit porte conseil" It means the nightime will bring its advice/wisdom. Have a good nights sleep.

Good luck on day 1 Highwind. You don't have to feel like this anymore, this can be the start for you

If you wake up tomorrow with commitment and resolution to see things through then you will have taken a huge positive out of a negative.

If we want to get out of the hole we are in we have to stop digging.

I was were you are a few 24 hrs ago and went to an AA meeting. I saw happy, healthy sober people. I knew one thing for sure. I was none of these.

When the meeting was done I felt a little bit of hope so I decided to try another. I have been sober from that day

hello everyone, I'm up and sober now. Sorry about the post last night just felt dreadful. Went to an xmas do and had hoped i would be ok. One of the other lads plonked a beer in front of me (knowing what my usual was) and then all bets were off. I need to work on some coping mechanisms.......I might just tell everyone I know I'm an alcoholic and that way they'll not want me to drink.....I work for myself so can't really do me any harm that info being out there.

I really hate who I've become through drinking, something so simple as pouring a liquid in your mouth is ruling me, the easiest thing in the world should be to stop pouring.

I've looked up my local AA meetings and there is one tonight at 7.30. I think I've been playing at it so far, all a bit half hearted but I'm going to commit to it today and try to start a better life for me and my family

Just read the thread back and its cringe worthy, what a little pity party I was having.....at least I didn't do anything overly stupid at the party.
