I never had just one. As others have said, I always drank more than I planned to, which was scary and frustrating. And the fact that I had a plan to begin with wasn't a good sign either.

Naw, it was late at night, I was laying in bed, and I was expending mental energy on being "correct" over a minor point that could better have been used paying attention to Coast to Coast AM on the radio. Because, aliens and stuff.

The long and short of it is that we seem to agree that quantity is a pretty immaterial issue if a person isn't interested in being sober. Our other tête-à-tête really was an aside. We'd both said our piece, and if I continued it, more distraction was likely, rather than contributing to the primary discussion. Rather than do that, I decided to follow your lead and let it rest.
