Hello, everyone.
Hello, everyone.
This is my second day of sobriety. It has been a very long time coming. I have never tried to quit before. I am looking forward to getting to know you all and the support that I will undoubtedly need in the days, weeks, months and years ahead. This was one of, if not the most, difficult decision I have faced in my life, but I am committed to a life without alcohol. I spent last night reading many of your posts and was truly inspired. If I can be so proud of complete strangers, imagine how I might feel about myself. Yay you! And yay me!
Hi Vona,
Fantastic that you've made this life changing decision. Have a look on the new It Gets Better thread to see what a good decision you've made.
Also great that you've been reading around the forums. I hope one of the many approaches covered appeals to you. Whether AA, AVRT, Allen Carr's books, you name it, someone here has used it to get sober. But whatever approach you take, it's a very good idea to have a plan to cover all the situations you're likely to face. Relying purely on good intentions and will power can be tricky. Also know that if you have any questions, or want any kind of support, there's people on here 24/7 who will be there for you.

to SR.
You will find a lot of support here.
Why don't you join us at the 24 hours recovery connection where we commit not to drink or drug for the next 24 hours?
It is a fun, supportive way to hold ourselves accountable:

Another good thing to do is to join your class (Dec 2015) so you can network with other people who quit at the same time
