Need strength
Today I start my abstinence. Day 1 is always the hardest for me so I am asking for a bit of encouragement & support.
I've only been drinking for 4 day and before that I had 12 days sober, so I know I can do this.
The first day always feels like such a hurdle though.
My wife will be home from work today so that should be a support.
Please send some positive thoughts my way. Thank you.

One of the things that really solidified my sobriety was realizing that I never had to go through day one or any of the cravings in early sobriety ever again if I stayed sober.
You never have to go through this ever again if you don't pick up. Keep remembering that.

I wish you all the best on day 1. I am very new as I am only on day 12. I am still struggling mentally but physically am doing much better than day 1-5. Reading here has helped me immensely. When I am struggling I come on here and it is helping. You can get through it.

Just cleaned the house and got rid of all the empties. I'm in a good frame of mind atm.
Not sure what I will do differently this time, I'm just playing it by ear atm.
Good luck and keep reading and posting. Keep us updated! We are always here for you.
I agree that playing it by ear might not be the best idea. I know for me, I needed to lay out a plan of action, my support groups, activities I was going to do instead of drinking, people I would need to shy away from, etc...Only then did I finally feel like I had truly taken the steps to stay sober.

Whatever you do don't drink. If you were a daily drinker you are probably going to feel some discomfort. You will probably feel worse before you get better but persevere! You can do it. My decision to stop drinking was the best decision I ever made. You can do it too!
