Struggling today but holding strong

I've been really down for a few days. This morning I've been out and about doing a little shopping and trying to kill some time. Every liquor store seems to jump out as I drive by.

I wish my thoughts didn't go to vodka when I feel like I do today. I will be glad tomorrow that I didn't give in today. Today I must go back to the early days of thinking on how I dealt with the desire and temptation to drink.

It is NOT worth it!!! I'm not going to throw away my hard work.

Well done for staying strong. Reward yourself tomorrow with a lovely walk in the park and a cream bun x

Smart of you to check in. Stay strong and try to focus on the things you're grateful to have in your life.

I went through very similar struggles.

I found I had to "reprogram" my brain by consciously doing other things in response to those feelings.

Over time, my brain began to go to running, exercise, playing guitar, going hiking, hitting the gym, going for a coffee, catching a movie.....

But to get there I had to purposefully force myself to shift focus.

It really does work and it really does get better.... hang in there!!

I found that after a while, I got through good day bad days and indifferent days without thinking of alcohol...it took a while to get there tho - don't lose heart Sinderos.

It took us years to get to the point where we needed to quit...it's going to take a little time to get out of the hole...but you will.

My ride home today felt like a war was taking place in my own mind. Every store I'd drive by part of my mind was considering stopping while another part was saying keep driving.

You are doing great. Your rational mind is starting to take over and do it's job. You are absolutely right, it's not worth it.
