Liver Test Results

I've been sweating this for awhile. At one week sober I saw the doc and had a liver enzymes test. They were pretty high. At 30 days they were still high but dropping. Today, 82 days sober, I had them tested again. They are back in the normal range. Yeah!

Just one more reason to stay sober. My 57 year old liver isn't going to take any more of the poison. The liver is an amazing organ but it has its limits.

Fantastic news JD, it is quite amazing what our bodies can do when we quit poisoning them everyday!

JD this is great news and I know what you mean. Once you're over 50 the liver doesn't seem to want to deal with it as much. I am very happy for you and yes it's one of the many reasons.

That great news jd . I had my yearly check up ( they do this in UK on NHS) a load of blood work ,blood pressure etc .
Results were all normal but I was warned to quit the binging as it will one day take its toll on the liver .
Its sometimes the things that cant be tested that can be bothersome like the emotional side of it all .

Thanks everyone. I was pretty worried and feel like I dodged another bullet. I've been very fortunate, lucky, that my drinking hasn't caused too many major problems in my life. But was thinking it had finally caught up with me. Now I'm optimistic that I can live the last third of my life relatively healthy and alcohol free. There's still much work to do but I'm looking forward to that life long process.

Great news, as you said the liver is amazing but anymore poison could tip the scale the other way. Glad to hear your enjoying sobriety.

That's great news.
But, be careful. I got great news like this back in 2007.
Doc said I was again very healthy. But my alcoholic mind used it to trick me into trying to "moderate". It was 6 years before I climbed out of the bottle again. Always stay vigilant in your sobriety my friend.
