How much time have you got?
It's really REALLY difficult to explain addiction to the unaddicted. In a nutshell your sister knows she has a problem. The part of the brain that processes reason and can learn understands there is a problem.
The addiction is in another part of the brain. The part that makes you feel like if you don't get a drink you might die.
So even though she knows she shouldn't drink, she feels afraid and anxious when she doesn't.
That's why she says she is half and half on it. Her thinking brain knows it's time to stop, but her feeling brain panics at the thought.
Hope that helps.

Welcome to the Forum Janonhh!!
Addiction is one of those things that can cause a person to keep continuing on despite the consequences even to the point of death, that's how serious addiction can get, it's frustrating, and it can be a very lonely, confusing place looking in from the outside.
Have a read around the Forum, you'll see many reaching the point of needing to change, but still struggling to do that despite knowing it's the best option.
You'll also find loads of support for yourself, which is important!!

You will probably find some useful information in our friends and family section.

Those different parts of the brain I mentioned previously will actually argue with each other. It can be maddening. Tell your sister about this forum. It might not help, but it can't hurt. Tell her there are people here who know all about that silent battle that goes on between the ears.
Best of Luck on Your Journey!
