Question:
I'm trying to find the answer to this but everything is really lengthy and I don't feel like reading through several articles to find one answer.

Can doctors perform the actual injection in a death penalty? Or are they only allowed to be present and assist while a technician actually administers the actual injection?
Does anyone know off hand? If not, I'll read through the articles, I was just hoping for a quick answer; and you guys are the smartest people I know with a wide range of knowledge on different topics, I was hoping someone just knows.
USA death penalty

Just about anyone trained in injections (licensed in the med field) can actually administer it. Quite a few types of physicians and their boards strictly prohibit it tho. ..ie anesthesiology.

So an actual, practicing, licensed physician can administer it?
What about the hippocratic oath? It doesn't prevent the doctors from putting the needle in?
I know they can check vital signs and blood pressure etc, but can they actually be the one who does the actual injection? Does it vary by state I wonder as well.

I have to write a paper on death- I was thinking of writing on the sanctity of life and the death penalty.
Trying to decide if it's worth a paper on.
Its a completely open ended paper on death, so I'm just thinking of my options.
Was thinking of assisted suicide too.

It's kind of a fuzzy line. ..they can but they don't. It is usually prepped, and administered by other inmates that are "trained". The dr is only there to confirm.

Bodhi, I just googled "who administers lethal injection" and got a raft of responses to the query. Try that.

I missed the last part of part 2. Busy tonight! I got an "elf on the shelf" for daughter. I put it up and I'm going to get some ice cream and hit the hay.

Haven't heard about dad this evening so no news is good news. Husband made it home sober which is a big step. We'll see how payday goes on Friday.

See you all in the morning. Congratulations on shotgun Melina!

Yeah that's what I was thought. I can't seem to find a clear answer- admittedly I haven't spent a lot of time or effort looking, I guess I know what I'll be doing tomorrow!

Good google search method- from my searches I was getting long articles on ethics, whereas I'm just looking for hard facts on who actually does it to decide whether to roll with this topic

Good morning, soberwolf! It's 1:33 am here in Chicago. I'm reading to try to get sleepy. I hope you're well today!

That Gabor Mate video link you posted in another thread was really good, thank you!
