Hi Worried75,
If you feel overwhelmed by the "God stuff" in AA, this is a good reference.
I am an atheist and I attend AA for the group support and the means to help me ditch the idiot ***hole that was the old me. Usually just "not drinking" doesn't get us anywhere because all that stuff that made us want to drink in the first place is still there.

You're not a bad person.
I would be willing to be you're a good person.
You're trying to do the right thing.
Getting sober is hard. You have to learn to drop everything in your past, and move on. This includes old drinking buddies, drinking family even. If you truly want this, which it seems like you do, you got to put in the work.
Find things to do:
Walk, run, read, write, listen to music...find a new passion.
We can't change anything in our pasts, but if you choose to do the 12 steps, that's something we can address in the future.
Be well my friend.
Worried75, we have all been there. I have so many instances where I have acted out of character when I have had too much to drink. I have seen so many people I know do stupid drunk things over the years yet I dont hold it against them like I do against myself when I do stupid ****
So weird. Why are we so hard on ourselves when no one else really gives it a second thought??

You're not shackled to not drinking, you're free from drinking

Hi worried. I'm glad you're back. You're not a bad person, no one is. Alcohol makes you do bad things. Take care of yourself the best way you can. Getting alcohol out of the mix is one of the ways you can do that.
