No wine at Thanksgiving

Usually by the time Thanksgiving dinner rolled around in the late afternoon I would be sh&tfaced. I would be who knows how many drinks deep. Then I would bring a beer or mixed drink to the table and have wine as well.

This time, I didnt have a single drink at all. And really I didnt miss it. It felt pretty good to be coherent during dinner. It felt good not to be nursing a hangover during the following day.

So that is one holiday down without a drink. Hope you all had a nice Thanksgiving as well (for US people) and a happy regular weekend to everyone else.

Nice, jryan! :)

I know what you mean - I used to make a punch for Thanksgiving that would singe your eyebrows. Everyone thought it was fun - once upon a time. Until I drained the whole punch bowl by myself, long after everyone had their little cup or two. Foggy and incoherent during an important day - classy.

Add me to that list that says "well done". We had guests over and everyone drank moderately (I did not, but drank some on Friday), and the end of the night I did have to help one of our guests to bed. And he paid the price the next morning.

It's so nice to not worry about what happened other than having a nice meal. Well done.

I dont miss paying that price! I talked to a friend of a friend a few days ago and he said he gave up drinking as well. The hangovers that lasted a few hours, turned into a day, which turned into a few days. I know that all too well. No more having to worry about that!

Thank you all for the support. It really is nice to see the progress I have made over the past year even with the slips that I had. I have probably put more days together sober in the past year than I have since I started drinking heavily combined. So its a nice progress.
