Giving It a Go
Hi all,
I am new to this as I have never posted on a chat or website before. I think I may be the only person left on earth who doesn't have a facebook account. I keep busy or rather I should say my three children keep me busy most of the 24 hour days. I am here because I have been really trying my best to stop bindge drinking. It has been a problem going on 20 years now and I want to be a better mother, wife, sister, daughter and friend than I have been in the past. I am a very empathetic person and feel strongly in helping others but usually at the cost of not seeing to my own needs. I hope to meet some other individuals who have been sober for years now and can help me through this difficult transition. Thanks so much!

Welcome Shan! Getting sober is a fantastic decision, glad you have made that choice. You've also come to a great place to get support. You mention not taking care of ourselves...that's very common and we do all need to do a better job of that. Coming here and seeking help is a great first step in that area, don't be a stranger!
Welcome Shan!
You've already made the biggest step. You realise you have a problem with alcohol and want to stop. Please look around on these forums, ask questions. You'll find a huge amount of support here. What I love the most is pretty much every approach to sobriety is covered, AA, AVRT, SMART, you name it, someone has used it successfully and can help guide you on the way.
Wishing you the very best on your own path to sobriety.
