Why do you want to go drinking? You have the choice to go or not to go. Make the right choice.

Remember, the thought of drinking is just a thought. You know that if you give in to those thoughts, it will turn into physical cravings along with the withdrawals. I know those thoughts can be very strong, but those cravings and the terrible consequences are far worse IMHO. It helps me to replace that thought of drinking with the thought of the hell I would subject myself to if I give in. After fighting so hard for a week, do you really want to start over again only to end up where you are today? Hope you make the right decision. John

One of the things that I learned when I was first here, was that by picking up, it started up those cravings all over again. It was exhausting.

The cravings get to be much more manageable with time. Just keep on hanging in there and don't pick up. Keep on remembering you can get through today!!

Hi Neo ,
Quitting drinking was one part of it for me , i also had to work on how to deal with, and be reasonably happy with a sober life.

I try hard to see alcohol as a poison with good advertising.

Don't give upon yourself. Sobriety is worthwhile , i'd have not done it for the last 4 years if it wasn't .

Hope to see you posting soon ,

Bestwishes, m

Play the tape through Neo - you're obviously imagining that drinking will be pretty cool - but what's the reality for you?

Go back and read your old posts if you need a refresher?

It definitely get harder to stop Neo...which is why it's even more important to make a solid plan to stay stopped. Can you dump out what you have, get some water and rest? The sooner you quit the easier it will be.

You're not wasting our time. I am a bit worried for you. Have you tried other options of things to do when having cravings, incorporating other recovery options (AA, rational recovery) or given any thought to intensive outpatient or inpatient rehab?

Hi Neo. I'm really glad you posted to talk things over. That's why we're here.

Sometimes this needs to happen - to prove to us that it's no longer fun or necessary. If you're like me, drinking is never going to be the pleasant escape that it once was. We've crossed the line. Once you get more sober time behind you, it'll be easier to avoid temptation. It sounds like you learned something from this - let's try again. We're with you.
