Happy Thanksgiving!

I'm ambivalent to celebrate this particular holiday. Won't get into politics or history though. It's a downer.

I'll just focus on the food, and whichever dysfunctional family members we end up visiting.

Already on page 3 and I've only been gone an hour. Sheesh.

I'm missing the full beaver moon. My mom commented it was just for my birthday but I've yet to see it because it's been cloudy and raining for two days now. Rats.

Went to an early AA meeting which basically was me and five guys just chatting about plans for the day. It was nice. I'll start cooking later. Which, like Brain, will be a regular day with a turkey dinner. Mr. Ruby dragged himself in the door at 7:30 a.m.

I'm thankful I'm not chasing a buzz. What a wretched way to live. At times I have to remind myself why it's so awful but it's no way to live.

Time to go in the house and face the day. But first I'll bring in my newspaper and look at the big sales papers. The paper looked quite large.

SoberP, I think that the minor definition of family is "those dysfunctional people who have known us since way back when." There's a bit in every family.

I'm thankful we aren't chasing a buzz too, Ruby. The preoccupation with it is miserable. Hope you have a nice day with your kids.

Hung out with family last night - lots of wine - spilled and drank - but I kept the boundary up and left in good season - today more of the same. Terrific to be able to touch down here. Grateful, indeed.

Don't forget to keep us posted about your date, Venecia!
I'm watching Return of the Pink Panther...such a funny movie. But I need to get out walking.
How's little Finn today, Behan? I love that name.

Hurrah for those who found the dutch and the UK to louche for their tastes .
I think the earliest part of my family to emigrate was in about 1680.

As a long line of farmers and sailors when i trawl through the records there seem to be lots of crossings to all over the world by the ancestors. I guess thats true for nearly everyone though as our ancestors double in number with each generation we go back ..

Just another day here in the UK , just another day to get through sober should you wish it to be , you don't have to buy into all the razz and matazz .

you can do 24 sober cantcha ?

lets do this

Hi, All-

Well, I just spent 20 minutes writing a dissertation on serenity and when I went to post it disappeared. Off to make the green bean casserole so I can't re-write history at the moment.

Welcome, Red-Andy!!! I am a semi-Newcomer to the thread and it is great fun and a helpful tool. Congrats on your decision to get sober- you won't regret it!

Off to enjoy my 196th day of sobriety- other people's drinking or behavior will not be allowed past my "Rock Wall of Serenity" today!

.....DJ, please cue Dave Edmunds, "I Hear You Knocking"....

Oops...I think I just posted on the old thread, or tried to...then saw the little envelope close. And I've already missed first THrEE pages here?.!,?

Happy Thanksgiving to my fellow Americans, and Happy-Nother-Sober-Day-Thankful to EVERYONE!

Making my assigned dishes. I spend Thanksgivings with my partner's extended family. We've been together a very long time, so they are my family, too. But there is always some grief and guilt mixed in that I can't spend an enjoyable holiday with my original family, too....distance, loss, estrangement, and too much sadness....turns me into a coward, and I stay with the happy partner's happy family instead.

Green bean casserole has always been my favorite Thanksgiving food.

Great attitude, Dharma, btw!
