Morning! Happy thanksgiving 'Merica!!!
I wish it was thanksgiving here again, its such a delightful holiday.
I used to have an American family living here in my city that I was friends with, so I'd crash their thanksgiving haha, but they've moved back to USA now
I just posted in the last weekender, I was saying I've actually never had a drink on thanksgiving, my family doesn't drink, plus I liked drinking alone.
The nicotine inhaler is hurting my throat, gonna try something else.
Welcome newcomers!!
Xoxo

And, the Moon is amazing. For reasons I believe are defensible, I wondered about the origin of the Full Moon nickname this month. From an Astronomy Website...
'The Full Beaver Moon for November.
This was the time to set beaver traps before the swamps froze, to ensure a supply of warm winter furs. Another interpretation suggests that the name Full Beaver Moon comes from the fact that the beavers are now actively preparing for winter. It is sometimes also referred to as the Frosty Moon.'
Much of the T Day Food Prep is already done 'round here. That 40 Oz. Cheesecake is lookin' mighty bitchen! I anticipate a nice leisurely pace for the remaining Food Prep. Nice Weather, and Sobriety shall prevail as I Spatchcock.
That amazing Post by Tetra re: T Day 'dread', and other such excess 'Baggage', brought back memories of all the angst and BS that supposed 'Holidays' generate. These Memories are not a bad thing. I'm just remembering 'the way it used to be' sans Regrets, and am very glad to have left all that. It's like moving away from beside a noisy Train Track. Once you've morphed into the 'quiet' of Sobriety, all that 'noise' is not something you ever want to return to. I can't lust after that which I no longer want.
So, today is one to savor. My favorite view of Addictive BS is in my Rear View Mirror.

Heading over to a friends house today. He is a wicked bad drinker. But that's not my concern. That's his. I challenged him earlier in the week to not drink beforehand and I saw him this morning and he was sober. He wants to try his hardest to make a dinner and be alive at 4pm. Good for him. I am past the point of others drinking bothering me at all. I don't own their drinking. Just mine!
And I don't have to cook today!!! Just eat!!!

Happy Thanksgiving Americans.
Welcome aboard everyone. Gonna be a quiet one here, with a late minute decision to make the full t-day meal. Just me and the missus, a regular day really with a turkey dinner thrown in. I imagine a 6lb turkey breast should last us about a week. I've always been a leg man myself.
Don't dwell on it Tetra, I think you already know the drill. Keep on keepin on.
Mesa - A full beaver moon? Always been a fan of those. I recalled as I looked out at the frost on the grass that I would go small game hunting on Thanksgiving morning with a group 30 some years ago. Rabbit and pheasants.
Today I am thankful for being sober and not being caught up in the "holiday drinking" that was a major part of the day for me. Was that after dinner nap caused by food or caused by beer and wine consumption? Yeah...

Happy Thanksgiving y'all!
Welcome aboard Redandy!
Giving thanks that I'm sober and that I have hope for the future. Last Thanksgiving I was a suicidal drunk who dreaded waking up every day. Thanks to this community I learned I didn't have to be a slave to my addiction. And like Nons said...I wasn't my addiction.

Good morning eveyone! I'm in for a Happy Thanksgiving!
Welcome RedAndy!
Tetra....that job wasn't for you, plain and simple. The bosses niece may have been in for the job, who knows. But it means that there is something BETTER out there for you. Keep optimistic and don't get discouraged.
I'm drinking my coffee and then will have a cup of chai before going walking.
I'm glad I invited the man from across the street for thanksgiving dinner. It makes it a bit more festive for me.
Ok-see you all later-

Miracle of miracles...
My mother and I have a somewhat rocky relationship. She just hugged me and said "don't worry. You'll get a job and I'm praying for you".
I can't remember the last time she hugged me.
Well I guess our relationship has changed a bit since I make an effort.
