I was 25 at my first AA meeting and I was 50 when I could stay stopped.

I think I responded on this thread before but time to update. First a month before my 40th birthday and second a month after my 42nd bday. Hmm I must have a thing about anniversaries even though I rarely celebrate my birthday.

32. Tried stopping since I was 31. Never really a problem stopping until around my 30th birthday.
Many failed tries and really bad things happening until 5 months of more forceful quitting. I hope this is it.

I am 45 now, I too wish I had stuck to sobriety in the past, but I can only control my decisions from today forward. I am getting close to 90 days, and don't plan on going back to Day 1 again this time.
