strong cravings
Been ok all evening then in the last half hour I've started to really crave that wine. This is despite all my worries in last thread, despite my logical brain knowing it's the wrong Thing to do. I've put my pj's on as a barrier to going out. May take the old makeup off!!! I just keep picturing the full glass. ...
Take the makeup off! Put on a movie and make some tea! You can do it. Picture how proud you'll be tomorrow morning, with no hangover and no regret. It's so worth it. Don't let the AV trick you into thinking otherwise.
Everyone who has attained sobriety has resisted the same cravings you are experiencing. You can resist them too. They are just thoughts. Annoying thoughts, but just thoughts. They can't make you drink. Only you can turn thoughts into the decision to drink. So stay strong.
I won't plead with you not to drink.
Let's try a different approach.
Go ahead and think of drinking, by all means.
How will it feel tonight to pass out?
How about the hangover tomorrow and the nauseous feelings all day.
Oh, that wonderful headache and dehydrated feeling.
Be careful what you eat tomorrow, because you want to try and keep it down.
Now that you've wasted your Saturday, will you start the process again tomorrow night, since you've given yourself permission to drink again?
Let's not forget about starting off at day 1 again. Will this feel good?
For what, a couple of hours of "buzzed" feeling?
Whenever I go through this mental exercise my cravings go away immediately.
Your AV is lying to you and you know it!

No matter what do not drink Adelina remember why your doing this XO
Stick around here as much as you like/need adelina. As others have mentioned, cravings/urges are simply feelings...you have a choice to react to them however you like. Sounds like you've got some good plans for tonight, just remember them and keeping coming here talking it through if you need it.

I had many long and intense cravings early on, adelina. In the beginning, I most often ate my way through them -- filling my stomach with a good meal (but not sugary food!) pretty much eliminated the craving each time. Then had more and more great experiences not giving in, waking up sober the day after, and that really reinforced my resolve. The more times I resisted, the easier it became to get through the urges, more or less.
Good job on choosing to call it a day and getting to rest

Glad you're hanging in there Adelina. Maybe some good stretching exercises. I find those helpful. Light chores - wash the dishes, scour the sink, sort laundry. Tiny things to keep my mind and hands occupied.

Thank you everyone for your support I'm in bed safe and sober.
I played on the wii with my boy then carried on after he had gone to bed. Good distraction, by the time he had gone to bed all thoughts of nipping out to the shop were gone.
Hey even did my wii fit age .... 10 years younger, though it obviously didn't ask for a liver function test ha ha gotta laugh!!
