Not sure yet, I have an appointment with a hand surgeon in a half hour for severing a hand tendon while SOBER. Whether or not I have surgery will shape the weekend and holiday!

Hey HG's.... I said that week after week for a long time. Never stop trying. Living sober is possible and if you stick around this thread you will read... it is fun and positive as well!

What is you plan? How will you handle this weekend? What is planned that you need to work through?

EDIT: I just saw your post above.... Hope that goes well...

I get to do some editing/writing today! A press release for the next theatre production. One of the students working on the play took a stab at it, but it's awful. I shall fix it. Fun!

Morning all (and afternoon to the Euro crowd).

Took a drive up the hill to look upon my little town last night. Nice view:

welcome aboard Healthygoals

you are NOT allowed to drink while on the weekenders bus... if you think you might want to get off - STOP and check in first... we can't chain you to a seat, but we will do our best to talk you out of leaving. But it's up to you to ask the driver first.

It's quite pleasant at the grocery store with half the lights turned off and nobody else around. Except the cauliflower wasn't on the truck according to the produce dude. Since I had to give up my man card, I picked up a bottle of foo-foo for my coffee
I just ordered a couple oil cruets online. But when I found out shipping cost more than the bottles - cancel! If they would have told me the shipping cost before I had to go through filling out all the nonsense I would have saved 15 minutes of my life.

Game Time: Will LBrain reach 10,000 posts or 2 years sober first? Not giving any clues...

Hi Kiki and healthygoals. Welcome to weekenders. Stick here, stay sober.

I never thought I could do it. Never get beyond a day. But I did it. I've been doing it. You can too.

Of course I can't see any of the pics or videos so I'll look at them in the office. Kilts.

Today I received a little bit of good news: I had been taking a class in Accounting and Payroll, and I received the news that I passed everything with an overall mark of "Merit'. I was very happy with this as I never studied Accounting before.

I feel a bit wishful -I am capable of great things but I wish I hadn't wasted so much time.

My Granny was right all along when she told me I am smarter than I thought.

Anyway, no regrets. Onward and upwards.

Here is a lovely video if you have a few minutes to spare:

A Spanish Christmas ad for the lottery has caught the public's attention. The ad shows a lonely night time security guard getting up every night at 10 pm for his shift at a factory which makes mannequins. He decides to set up some of the figures in funny poses for the morning staff when they come on duty.

In a heartwarming twist the ad ends with a lottery win for the staff - and a surprise for the solitary night watchman. And the good news is you don't need to speak Spanish to understand and appreciate the video!

I admit I got a bit weepy!

I'll have to check out the video Tetra! And congratulations on passing your course. You've got lots of time, girlie. You're living life and all you've been through until now have made you the stellar person you are today. Would you have the insight into who you are if you had not had to work so hard for it? I think that's what people mean when they say they're a grateful alcoholic.

I'm working on being a grateful alcoholic. And I'm here to say keep plugging away!!

I posted last week that I'd had blood drawn because I'm being monitored for elevated blood glucose and high cholesterol. I was in pre diabetic range for years before I quit drinking. It continued after I quit in December 2013. So... I just got the results. My labs are markedly better. Both blood sugar and cholesterol were down, down down. Doctor says keep doing what I'm doing. For two years I've been hoping they'd get better because I quit drinking. Finally!!!!! Yay!!!!

I am grateful for the internet, where I can connect to all you lovely people.

Thanks, Al Gore.

I'm working on being a grateful alcoholic. The sting of my legal and personal troubles jumps out and says "boo" on a regular basis, still. But less often now. And there are days when I feel very grateful for the insights about myself and life in general I have gained over the past (almost) year. I feel like I have learned a ton.
