Had to say goodbye...
This morning my family and I said goodbye to my sweet dog, Zoey.
Over fifteen years of dog parks and beaches, seas and lakes and rivers. Hikes in the forest, mountains, deserts, fields.
She was there when I woke in horror to find my children stolen.
She was there with me in almost every home I've owned.
She was there with me through two marriages and my current relationship.
She was there for the arrival of both of my daughters.
On countless hundreds of miles of runs, she was my sole companion.
She was my friend, my companion, my family.
Saying goodbye leaves me heavy. Grieving. Empty.

My heart goes out to you.
I understand the ache and grief of losing a beloved fur companion. I've had the tough decision to ease a dog's passing three times. And with a senior dog currently in the house, and another with renal problems, I'll be doing it again. It never gets easier.

I am so sorry for your loss, FreeOwl. It sounds like you gave Zoey 15 wonderful years of love and attention. Hopefully, that will give you some measure of comfort during this difficult time.
