Hi,i'm looking up AA meetings in my area and I found one close by but I can't figure out the codes they use.I was just wondering what 'SP' stands for to them if anyone knows? Thanks.

I am not an AA'er but I think that it means that it is a meeting with a Speaker.

Welcome! These codes are as listed for Delaware AA meetings, but I am pretty sure they are universal, not sure this is all of them:

CODES FOR TYPE OF MEETING
OPEN - Public Welcome
CLOSED – limited to persons who have a desire to stop drinking
11St = 11th Step Discussion
BB = BIG BOOK
Bg = BEGINNER, Meeting designed for those new to AA
D =DISCUSSION, Any AA topic
God = GOD STEP, Our relationship with God, as we understand Him
GR = GRAPEVINE, Read & discuss articles from the Grapevine
HC = Handicapped accessible
Lit = LITERATURE, Reading & discussion of any AA literature
LS = LIVING SOBER, Reading & discussion from the Living Sober book
Sp = SPEAKER
Span = Spanish speaking meeting
St = STEP MEETING - Discussion of one of the 12 Steps
T = TRADITIONS - Discussion of one of the 12 Traditions

If you go to one you could ask and get first-hand knowledge of the particular vernacular for your area by asking a regular. May get more--who knows. Oh, and "W" generally means women and "M" usually means men..
