Back again

After failing to get sober and a divorce as a result, I am back here.
I met a beautiful woman and I love her but still I mess things up with alcohol. We were out for dinner on Friday night with a big group and I can't remember the end of the night.
I must stop, I am hoping to be inspired by everyone here.

Welcome back. I too went through a divorce recently. Couldn't stay sober during the whole mess, but trying to put my life back together now. You can do it. We are here for support. SR has always been a huge support to me.

You can do this ... but, I think it's important to do it for yourself!

I don't know if you were actively drinking before the party and drank too much at the party, but in any case it sounds like you need to stop drinking entirely. That's hard if you're actively dating since alcohol is interwoven so tightly into society. Does the woman you're dating know your history? This is hard advice, but I've been in your shoes and pretty much ended up where it sounds you are, but I'd recommend you get sober. Stay sober until you're very comfortable in those shoes. And then start dating. You need to do this for yourself or you're going to end up in the same situation you were before you got divorced.

I am sorry about the divorce.

Try reading, posting and replying to threads, often, here on SR. Seems to help

Hi Gifford! Welcome back! I recommend you keep posting and reading through the threads and stickies, and that will help to get in touch with ways to get through the urge to drink, and also maybe touch on feelings you may have that trigger it. In other words, stay in touch!
