Relapsed

I have been sober for 3 months. I did a painting project that was a lot of work. I used alcohol as a reward. I need to get back on track. I'm disappointed in myself ,

Sorry to hear that you relapsed, Byebyedrink.

You remained sober for three months so you know that you do this.

Maybe, examine the mindset of why you used alcohol as a reward and formulate a plan for alternate reward systems - a nice meal out, a new piece of clothing (ice cream always works for me); shore up the holes in your plan.

You can always log-on here when you are feeling vulnerable; there's always someone here to offer perspectives on your situation.

Glad that you are back.

Ok time to jump back up Byebyedrink. I've done that before and that one drink ended up a year or two of drinking all because I gave up hope. Let's not give up hope, we're in this together!

I've done it too, Byebye. For me it was 7 years back 'out there'. It's hard to not think of alcohol as fun or a reward - but we know better now. You're back, that's what counts.

I made it 4 months and went back for another year or more. Same result. You can start over today! Don't get too down on yourself, we've all been there. You can do it again, with a fresh reminder.

When I relapsed last February, my Grandma didn't get mad at me really. I guess she was disappointed, yes, but she said something that really stuck with me. She said it's ok to slip and struggle as long as you get right back on the horse again. So I relapsed for an evening before I began again. You can do this and we are all here for you.

I know I want to get right back on the wagon. I don't want to go back to where I was. Tomorrow is a new day. I have switched to water drank about 4 beers (my husbands) I don't even like beer that much. I was drinking too much vodka when I stopped. Thank u for the encouragement. I'm starting over.

Your not starting over your picking up where you left off.

I cleaned my entire house from top to bottom and then rewarded myself by throwing a bunch of mud.

Strange how the addiction makes the silliest things seem reasonable.

Get after it! You can do this!
