I'm about 3.5 months sober now and have not been around any alcohol til this past weekend when I went to a very good friend's birthday party. Some of her family members are big drinkers and I knew some of her good friends might be having a glass of wine too. I have to say that I was nervous about it but in the end everything turned out fine. I got there and was not tempted in the least or had any cravings.

Having said this, I think I will continue to avoid any situations where there is drinking for a while longer. I want to be sure that my sober muscles are really strong before I head out into any potentially dangerous situations.

Congratulations on making it through! Parties and holidays are soooo hard, and as much as we would like to make alcohol disappear from the earth it won't. Congratulations on 3.5 months!

Awesome, Delfin! Eight months in, I still find going out into those situations to be stressful. I tend to isolate. You're doing great!
