A Glimmer of Light
A Glimmer of Light
It was early in the morning and I met a friend for breakfast. I asked, "Before we go can I get a little something to drink?" He's like, "Really? At 8:45 am? We need to get you some help!" I said, "I'm just kinda shaky and I need to get the shakes off." He said, "Well I don't condone it at all, but we can get a little something, but not alot. I'm not one of those so called friends who smile in your face but want you to crumble." I was embarrassed because he IS one of those well-wishers for me. I could see in his face he felt so bad giving me that. Later on that day, he called and said, "I listened to your You Tube videos and I especially liked the Sobriety Song you wrote...you had a light in your eyes, you can have that light again, I believe in you!" It took two more days after that conversation and still binging before I landed myself in Sober Recovery again. All it takes sometimes is for one person to believe in you, or for you to believe in yourself. I am thankful for my friend!
always hope !!
it also took me encouragement from others- telling me i wasnt a bad man just a sick man and that i was worth getting sober- for me to start having that hope and believe i was worth it.
cg, how bout doing something i was told to do early on-something that truly helped:
go look right into your own eyes in a mirror and tell yourself you love you.
