Lost a lot while intoxicated - in sobriety I am pleased to post the most important thing I lost is the reflection of my despair in my loved ones eyes. Hope I never, ever find it again !!

I lost my self respect and the respect of my kids. Since getting and staying sober I have regained their trust and respect.

I lost my sister. She was 43, died home, alone. Paramedics found her days later.

I wasted too many years being half there with my daughter who died of cancer last year. What I wouldn't do to get back that time but she is gone and I'm left with only sadness and regret for those wasted days

Respect at work
Respect for myself
Various relationships
Looks
Chance of having more children

Mainly my Peace of mind although I didn't realize this until many months of being sober.

I have lost everything on this thread and more It has depressed me reading through it to be honest.

I once lost a good friend's 4 month old puppy who I was babysitting. I got so drunk that I forgot that he was there and I passed out on the sofa in a slumber as usual. When I woke up I felt confused and guilty and decided to take him for a midnight walk to make amends. I Left with him but came back without him somehow.

He did turn up a week or so later at an RSPCA in the next town and my friend had to pay a sum of money towards the costs of the RSPCA collecting and homing him.

Let's try to think more in terms of what we have gained/are gaining guys hey?

Time, I've lost so much time.
Of course material possessions, phones, wallets, keys, jackets.
Money so much money.
My good reputation.
My self respect.

Self respect was the main thing I lost and I gained it back in sobriety.
My XABF was not so lucky though, he lost his life: he committed suicide by jumping under a subway train.

I'm so happy they found the puppy, that must have been awful for you. I always panic when I wake from a black out and check my puppy is there and I haven't taken him out and left him when I've been wasted.
Your right too, we should focus on what we have gained not lost.

Reading all the things all of you have lost helps me focus harder on today. I don't want to lose anything else over my drinking.

You can have reasons, or you can have results, but you can't have both.

Acute things: Two marriages and my beauty. (I was a looker before this.) And health.

More importantly: Three decades of my life. Not manifesting my full potential, 'cuz I'm actually pretty talented.

But still more important is to look ahead and not back. I think of the opportunities I'll gain, rather than what I lost. Some things I lost cannot be regained, and those things are not worth thinking about. I go for the future!!

The ability to make friends
My health
My business
My reputation
My humanity

I lost my potential as a human being, I used to think I was "functioning" but that was merely living life on autopilot, going through the motions, coasting through life.

Sobriety raised the bar as to what I could I be, a friend, a brother, a son, a work colleague, a human being!!
