I want my life back....
Welcome to SR Jayrod! Congrats on 5 days and your decision to get sober, it's a commendable one and you should be proud. You'll find a lot of support and understanding here, don't be afraid to ask questions and stick around.

glad you found us.
Don't worry about others, concentrate on your Sobriety and then as you start to make different decisions about activities or how to spend your time people will start to see this is a real permanent change in your life, let actions do the talking.
As I continually started to turn down Friday after work drinks, went to birthdays and Xmas work get togethers and didn't touch a drop the penny finally started to drop for people.
People can have their opinions, stick to the course and do this for you!!

Giving up drinking? Hmmm. What a wonderful CONCEPT!
...I had one job in my early '20's in which there was a LOT of pressure to go out partying with co-workers and I engaged in that at one time...and sadly, the ones who didn't go out and party were sort of ostracized. I am thankful I don't work in that type of environment anymore.
Stay strong and firm. It's so worth it! And, you never who you might influence in a positive way as they will see you are happier and healthier.

Welcome Jayrod. Congrats on 5 days. Very cool.
When I started to really understand that what others think of me makes zero difference in my life, things started to get easier. I fall back into worrying about what others think and that's when my sense of myself gets lost. Who cares what work people think. Take care of you!

Welcome to SR Jayrod. Great job on 5 days. Most people don't understand how hard each day is when we are addicted.
Don't pay attention to what other's think. This is your journey and with determination and will power, you can show them what you are made of.
No one thought I could do it either, including me; i'm on day 484 today. It can be done and you can do it. Stay close to SR and lean on us as much as you need.

To me, calling addiction a bad habit is kinda like comparing a pea shooter to the atomic bomb.
I don't think it's discouraging to let folks know the truth - that it's going to take a lot of work, a little time, and a lot of patience to beat addiction.
It's still a pretty good deal - I drank or drugged for decades - it took me a lot less than that to sort myself out, for good
