4 weeks

Hi everyone. Well 4 weeks now. I've controlled the voice saying go on Steve you can enjoy a few then stop again ok. I think the hardest thing is that I feel distant from people especially my wife. It's like I'm having to re-learn how to have a proper relationship. I'm bored a lot too. I know I have to find positive things to fill my time. On the plus side I've notice I am starting to become more patient with my children and others. Also there is just less unnecessary drama. I haven't so far had the re-surfacing and having to deal with un-resolved emotions I was expecting, maybe that's yet to come. Go to go out this weekend so my first real test. But I won't drink. The site has been a real help. I read a lot which lets me see other have been through and achieved what I need to and spend time in the chat room. Anyway thank you for you support. Onward and upward I go. :thanks

Well done Steve.
Most I have ever achieved is 6 days but posts like yours give me hope.
Boredom is difficult but with a family to entertain the possibilities are endless..

Steve, that's excellent!

I completely hear what you are saying about feeling distant...I felt the same way with my spouse at first in my sobriety. We had to sort of get to know each other again, but I can report it is all positive. Addiction is self-centered, and early sobriety seemed to be a bit that way too; it will get better!

Thanks Dharma. I hope it's the same for me.

Hi Steve,

I am with you, 4 weeks and 1 day sober today. Yes life certainly changes. I agree with you, everything, has been an eye opener for me as well. Doing all usual things sober, coping with things sober etc ..Its not always been easy but well worth it. Good work and we can do this I am I feel over that hump so to speak.
