Don't know if there are any safari affectionados here, but ever think about a gazelle being chased by a cheetah?

That is maybe the way addicts need to be in early recovery: Gazelle Intense. They don't ever let their guard down...to do so with be not only failure but highly likely death.

I'm not advocating people walk around all tensed up or feeling anxious all the time about sobriety...but it needs to be so important that one will do whatever it takes to stay clean and sober...as their life in on the line. Know the danger zones...be aware of triggers...know what to do when you feel triggered.

Have a plan.

A failure to plan is a plan for failure.

People who don't struggle with addiction and can have only a few drinks and call it good probably don't need to be gazelle intense...but maybe they do...I don't know...it's not something to be cavalier about...as anyone could succombe to addiction at any time in their life...
