Welcome Winslow, you've come to the right place!

Lots of good people here who are ready to support and help you, stick around and write here whenever it feels tough.

And congratulations on 7 days!

AA is the only thing that has ever worked for me and I have tried everything else under the sun that money can buy including ultra expensive alternative non-22 step based treatment programs. 30 days in Tibet, monasteries in Thailand, church, psychotherapy, men's groups, and yada, yada, yada.

When it just came down to it, I did not want to fully concede to my innermost self that I was truly powerless over alcohol and drugs and that I failed miserably at the game of trying to manage my own life. If you can accept these two basic and fundamental principles and you are an alcoholic, AA works 100 % of the time and NOTHING else will long term.

Welcome to the family. :) I hope the support here can help you get sober for good. :)

Hi & Welcome Winslow :)

Great to meet you, Winslow. You'll find us to be a friendly, encouraging group. It really helps to talk things over with those who understand.

Hey welcome, we're a supportive bunch, all in the same boat, for me, I'm only on day 12, i threw all the booze away in the house & told close friend's & family so that i had constant support. I come on here everyday & that helps so much, u can do it!!!!

Hi Winslow, welcome to the forums. I'm on my first month. The first week was definitely the hardest (at least for me), so its good you've put that past you!

Winslow 10-30-2015 05:21 PM

I'm having a hard time navigating the site, where do most people post? Is there a group to go to?

Most people post in the Newcomers to Recovery section of the forums so I think you're in the right place. :)

Here is the weekender thread that a lot of people will be posting too for this weekend. It to help make it through the weekend sober. If this weekend gets rough I suggest posting here because you'll see a lot of activity and get some quick responses.

Here is the class of October 2015 thread, its for people who committed to sobriety during this month. Its cool because mostly everyone that posts on this thread shares your sobriety month.

Day 10, woke up too early cuz of the time change, feeling it now, this will be my final quit,I absolutely have no desire to go through withdrawal again,I have no desire to wake up with a pounding head, still drunk, nauseas, dry eyes/throat,messed up guts, anxiety, the shakes, etc,I did post on the class of October thread and I'll post here too.iI guess

I saw you post in the October class. Welcome! I have 41 days, and reading and posting on here daily has been one of the main reasons I have not picked up a drink in those 41 days. Post where ever and whenever you need to!

Hi Winslow,

Welcome! Do you have a recovery plan in mind? AA/Meetings/Support groups, church/temple, anything :)?

SoberLeigh 11-02-2015 04:32 PM
