Relapse after first 30 days
Hi there. I just finished my first 30 days without drinking...then I had to fly to a football game and I relapsed. I'm pretty upset with myself because today I have had one of the worst headaches I've ever had in my life. I am about to go to an AA meeting now to see if it will help. Does anyone have helpful tips for me to stop feeling guilty and get back on track?
Take that headache and that guilt as your warning to quit for good. Each withdrawal is going to get worse, too. Have you read about Kindling? Here's a thread to read:

30 days is great, start again.

"Look back but don't stare"..we don't live in yesterday. You fell. Brush off, get up, go again, with a better plan. Ask yourself what triggered you and made yourself think it was ok to give into that inner voice? For me drinking is not even on the board. Not allowed. No. Not an option. So I just don't. Sometimes we may fall. Recognize it, learn, move forward with a bigger, better plan in place. Always have plan #2. (Hug) Maybe some of that makes sense and only my thoughts.
Welcome to the family. You will find a lot of support here but like AA or anything else, SR is what you make of it.
Here is a recent thread with some excellent tips which might help you

Welcome to SR, Bear; glad you found us.
Whatever you choose as your method of recovery, give it all you have and then some. AA has helped many people; so has SR.
Have a look around the site; give special attention to the Stickies at the top ofneach forum. There's lots of good information there.
Read, post and reply as often as you want.
You may also want to join a Class. I'll post link.

Bear847, Don't feel guilty. Just like a cowboy who fell off his horse, get back on the horse. Each day of sobriety gets better. Recognize it is as fresh start and not a step backwards. I'm in my 100th day of sobriety this evening. Life gets better with each day.
