The war that is endless!..

I am talking about the war that we fight againist alcoholism.
At least for now i am feeling in that way on my almost 4 months of sobriety.
We know that there are a lot of people who return alcohol again although they have a long time sobriety.
Alcoholism is just stoppable. You no longer can be a light social drinker.
That's why we can't drink. Otherwise our life sucks.

It's definitely a lifelong affliction, but you are right that we can control it and live a much better life without it.

I was under the impression that my life was actually better drinking. However my mind was completely altered with alcohol on a daily basis, of course thats what I thought because I was addicted to it! What happened after I quit only proved that my life was going down fast and I was so delusional in thinking that it was okay. Fortunately I quit before it spiraled down further. We all can quit and we don't need rock bottom to do it, having alcoholism to begin with IS rock bottom already.

Congrats on 4 months, I'm just about there myself! And I hope we can last many more months and years even.

I agree on the "war" part. I find myself thinking about this far too often. I've made a little over a year, but it is beyond difficult. I don't know why it is not easier at this point.

Moderation never worked for me!!

Parting ways with alcohol on a permanent basis was the best decision I've ever made!! :)

I can't visit that place any more

I have no business drinking alcohol anymore

If I had one beer, I'd be back to drinking daily before you know it. So I don't drink. Sure it's hard sometimes (I'm around 4 months too), but it's better than the alternative. I choose not to dwell on it too much; I've got a new chance to make a happier life :)
