Mesaman, thank you for the posts, enjoyable and funny. The toilet paper has to come from the front and I am the one who turns it around if it is not put on correctly.

SP, oh how I wish that was my sobriety date. I have been off Xanax and heroin for 3 years. I only have 5 days alcohol free.

Thanks for being here everyone. It is great to find support here. I have been coming here off and on for awhile. I'm going to make it stick this time!!!

Well you're doing it!! First the drugs, then the alcohol!
I quit cocaine a while ago, though it was only ever recreational for me thankfully, now I'm working on booze and cigs
Xoxo

Good to hear you've got a new gig, Saochik - busboy, cook, or waiter?

Back from the Pacific, had a nice couple of days down in Nowheresville. Plenty of sun, sand, and swimming! Got a nice tan and enjoyed some wonderful seafood. Truck made it back home with no issues as well. We kept an eye on the huge hurricane Patricia up north, but it was nowhere close to us. Hope all in Mexico are coping okay....hope you are all doing the same. Have a great rest of your weekend, gang!

I'm all for the barter system, Sao. Sounds nice.

Now I want a cheesy doodle! Puffy Cheetos or crunchy?

No pizza yet. Just ate the last of the giant grapes.

I've been looking at getaway packages. A remote beach sounds nice. Or a tour of Israel. Or the Mediterranean. Wonder how a person who's never been to dinner by herself would do on a vacation by herself??? Hmm.....

The Weekend Sober Bus was not where it was previously parked. Good thing that crazy is audible, found where it had moved to!

Home from getting my hair colored. Time to put some comfy clothes on and find something mindless to watch on the television.

I didn't know you were in Mexico Mark, glad everything is fine where you are. I will be working the coffee bar - it's the only thing I can do. I will wait if I have to but I am too big to be any good. I loom over the customers

Brynn, Israel undergoing a periodic but of civil unrest at the moment so might be a bit dodgy

Well done on the booze and cigs Jsbodhi

Well, my little expedition was fun. Photographically, not worth the time without a more sophisticated lens. Below is one of the unexceptional results.

On a more productive note, the guy below was standing on the next picnic table over; looks like we've found the perfect wedding photog for Della & Trach.

Little ironic trivia note: The exterior scenes of the airport in the appropriately titled flick "Airport" is ours. It's an oldy -- the original disaster pic. Even long ago, I could never get over how someone thought it would be a good idea to cast Dean Martin as an airplane pilot.

brynn, maybe start with dinner out by yourself and work up to travelling to war-torn Middle Eastern, anti-womens' freedom countries.

Jus. sayin.

I highly recommend that getaway to the Bahamas I mentioned earlier:

Dolphin Expeditions, Swimming With Dolphins, Swim with Dolphins

Lots of women and single people on that - it's on a boat for a week, though, swimming is the best part, so if you don't swim, ignore.

Thanks for the vote of confidence, trach.
Although bim has a point about dinner first....kind of a trial run maybe.

Ha! Love the wedding photographer! Although, come to think of it, the bride has been awfully silent today....

Sao the barista! Yay! Are you basketball player tall??

Y'all...I've moved on to peanut butter m&ms.

Brynn, I've become something of an expert at solo travel.

It's funny but I always feel as though I need to qualify that by saying I do have friends. It's just that over the years, most of them have gotten paired up. My dear traveling companion -- with whom I took several great trips -- married several years back and became a middle-aged mom via adoption so she's out for a good 15 years or so. (I did take one vacation with an ex-bf; it was the beginning of the end for us.) And, some of my solo friends -- well, while nice people, I couldn't envision traveling with them. Guess that's my long way of saying "really, I'm not a loser."

Solo travel isn't hard at all. The upsides: You do what you want, when you want. It's a good way to pursue your dreams. You come back all the richer for the experiences, brimming with memories and a sense of accomplishment. The downsides are thin, by comparison. It's more expensive and you do have to be a little more mindful of personal safety. There are probably a few places I wouldn't go alone that I might with a companion, but not many. In the long run, cost is probably the more prohibitive factor.

Feel free to PM me if you have questions or want to fly any ideas by me. I'm in the early stages of planning my next big trip, too. Where? Don't know. It's a big world.

I've never regretted my solo travel, either here in the U.S. or Europe. Not for a moment. I've done things some say they could never do alone, and returned a changed person for the experience. Go for it!
