Hey.. So, you're new?
 

I remember being 'new'
The first foot in the door to the classroom
Anxious about the eyes on me
Wondering how I'd be liked in this school

And being 'new' in the Army
Taunted and prodded
By the more senior soldiers
Leaders and peers alike

Being 'new' to every skill I've learnt
Flailing and clumsy
Unsure of myself
Afraid inside of my failure

But I remember when my daughters were 'new'
How glorious it was
To be a part of that
Holding them, knowing I'd give them everything

I remember being a 'new' Daddy
How scary it was
But how incredible, magnificent
A journey of unrivaled wonder

And I remember being 'new' myself
Little glimpses of that baby me
Snippets of Joy
How wonderful this 'new' world

And across the years and through the miles
Everything I ever Loved
All I ever attained or became
Began with being 'new'

So right now, from where you stand
Nervous, afraid, overwhelmed, bursting...
Remember that the very best of your life
Begins with 'new'
