Intro Posting
 

This is my first posting to this forum and I hope I am doing it correctly.
I am a 37 year old female who lives with her boyfriend of 10 years.

In a nutshell, I suspect that he is indeed an alcoholic and I will be going through this forums for support, reading and to ask questions. As for me, I do not drink myself (never liked the taste of most alcohol) but normally don't mind people who drink if they are good natured or can handle it. I'm afraid my boyfriend cannot handle it and he is hiding it from me.

Welcome, and I'm sorry for your situation with your boyfriend.

It might be a good idea for you to set some boundaries which will help to keep you safe, physically and emotionally.

I can tell you as a hider myself being confronted is the worst. It's supper hard if you are not ready to stop drinking and feel judged even if the person confronting you is doing it in love. So don't lose heart and be as gentle as you can. The first conversation cone go two ways. It can open up the conversation and make a change for the better or it can make the person drinking drink even harder due to guilt and anger. It's not an easy situation I know first hand.
