Big ol' cravings

My cravings are definitely related to being done with something big, wanting to relax, wind down, reward myself.

I just finished up teaching a weekend training and I am DYING for a pint of beer in my neighborhood pub.

It is so hard to break certain associations.

I will not drink, but man I want to.

It's east to talk myself into drinking
if I keep it constantly on my mind.

Every time you think about drinking
do 10 push ups and walk around the block.

That thought will get old in short time.

Ha! Love that idea.

Congrats on 18 days! Try and distract yourself for now, the cravings do become less and less as well as the associations, as you may have already seen a few times already. Your doing a fab job x

True stuff. When I quit smoking many years ago, I went out for a mile run each time I wanted a smoke. The first few days I was running 8-12 miles a day and got shin splints.

Thanks, you guys. It feels good just to vent it out.

I am going to go make a nice big dinner and watch a movie. I CAN DO THIS!

blueberry2015 10-18-2015 03:11 PM

Sounds a good plan to me! Enjoy x

Hi beeme. :) Glad you wanted to talk it over.

18 days is great, but still early. I had those thoughts for a few months, on and off. It's normal - and it will get better. We're learning how to live in a whole new way. I never thought life would be fun again - I was wrong.

beeme 10-18-2015 03:47 PM

Thanks, Dee. Those are very helpful.

Dinner is cooking and I'm feeling better already. The craving has passed and I am glad I didn't follow the urge.

Great job on pushing through!! :)

For me that 1 pint would turn into 6, and then I'd hit the liquor and god knows where I'd end up, remember to play the tape all the way to the end, the romanticised view of sipping a pint after a long week at work, it never played out like that in my reality!!

Well done
You can do this you dont need drink
the AV tries to trick you into thinking you need drink when i fact you dont need it at all
I find if i keep myself busy the cravings go away keep going you can do this
