One month sober. Is this normal?
The sugar thing is totally normal, from personal experience and from what I've read elsewhere.
A long-timer here (sorry don't remember who) wrote that in some ways, the longer you stay sober, the harder it gets. That kind of stuck with me because it's counter-intuitive but also makes a ton of sense. I guess the longer you go, the easier it becomes to rationalize things like "I'm feeling better now," or "just one this one time won't hurt" and so forth.
So yeah it might be easier at the beginning because everything is fresh and new again, but I'm going to try and remember what that long-timer wrote as time progresses.

I had a lot of mental and emotional issues between weeks 4 and 8, after the pink cloud of quitting wore off. It was tough. I would get bummed out easily, angry easily, laugh too easily, etc. For me it was part of dealing with emotions I'd let alcohol submerge for years. It got better and continues to get better.
The sweet tooth? Yeah, still here.
