Yeah, I remember many times that I would take two or three days to clean my apartment after a long binge, then think to myself, well, my apartment looks great, I went grocery shopping and have my cigs. Now I can drink myself silly. That's just sick. John

Thank you for your words- I really needed to hear them (read them) at this very moment.
Great job with your sobriety

We're very good at fooling ourselves. Drinking is anything but a reward.

What kind of recovery plan have you been working on KE?

My plan was not much of one. I just realized I was drinking every single day, not crazy amounts, but it just made no sense- drinking alone for no reason, have a few beers, then hiding the whiskey from wife. I quit after last Sunday and made it to Saturday- drank during the game yesterday. Today I feel good, stayed sober all day. It is obvious I have a problem or quitting would be no different than deciding not to eat Oatmeal cookies. I just have to stay plugged in like I have been here and keep the reasons for not drinking front and center and not feel like I deserve a drink and slip.
