Picture.
One of the great things, though not always easy, about Sobriety I found was the chance to grow and deal with things in life, not only in the present but in my past.
Alcohol allowed me to escape from things in a drunken haze every evening, and then I'd go to sleep, soo much of my drinking days in hindsight weren't conducted in the fully conscious here and now, whereas that is one of Sobriety's gifts, though in the beginning a very scary prospect, we feel and have emotions in real time and there's no more escaping.
A healthier way I think to conduct life overall, once we get to grips with it!!
