Advice please ?

Hi. Well day 6 and I actually feel in a pretty good mood, the first time since I quit. I am determined to straighten myself out this time. I have recognised that in the past I have tried without any support. This site is my starting point, so, does anyone have any advice as to how I can get the best out of it, or any other tips on making sure I have the support I need to stay sober ? Thanks.

One thing that seems to help quite a few people, including myself, is to join a monthly class. If wanted, you can join the October class here:

Just start posting, say hi to everyone. Then just keep posting there as much as you're comfortable with, and you'll begin getting to know people.

I'm in the August class, and it helps. Small group, but we all know the basic back story of each other, and check in with each other regularly. Helps keep you accountable.

Yes, joining a monthly class is great. There's a weekenders thread for support over the weekends too. I had no support before joining SR and it's made all the difference :-)

Welcome aboard Steve!!

I'll chip in with the 24hr Recovery thread for checking in each day to keep focused on the task at hand:

Steve, SR has a good online meeting at 8 p.m. CST Tuesdays and Fridays in the chatroom. Many of us gained a lot from the insight and support there.

You can do this!

Online support is great, but still no substitute for person to person contact, meetings and step work. Consider trying an AA meeting and see if you hear anything you like.

hi stevepearce, you've come to the right place. The people here are phenomenally helpful in every way. Maybe try and pop in here daily and do some reading, it really has helped me.
