Wish me luck
In a few short hours I will be competing in a Spartan race.
Spartan Race
I've been up here in Lake Tahoe for the past two days to acclimate to the altitude, and to get away from the city life of my home town.
I got to say guys and gals, I'm a bit nervous about this one. There will be a lot of mountains to climb (ski slopes) and a lot of obstacles over the course of 12 miles. I'm hoping to finish the race in 6 hours.
On a good note, other than seeing the sites, doing a little biking, and catching a movie, I've done zero drinking since I've been up here.
Anyways wish me luck and I will check in after the race!

Well I finished the race, but I am not happy with my performance. The first 7 miles was straight up hill, so I was mostly walking it. I did pretty well on the obstacles as I have good upper body strength. I think if I trained harder and ran more, I could have shaved considerable amount of time off my final time.
However, it was a nice experience and you meet many people along the way. I think in 2016 I will get a running coach that can help me with my hill running.
After the race I was beat and wanted to reward myself, so I went to a local restaurant, they sat me at the bar since there were no open seats. I ordered a 14 oz steak with vegetables, potatoes and a 6 oz baked salmon on the side, I had a big glass of ice water to wash it all down. I was in bed by 9 am that night.
