Did it! The Lobster Roll was strangely disappointing, but I was about to throw the uneaten half out (what happened to my appetite?) when a homeless guy on the beach asked for it. He was very excited to see what it was! Anyway, terrible sleep but now off to the coffee shop with my computer. Day 2.

Crimzone well done for getting through day 1, we did it! Day 2 for me, and have had thoses silly voices, go on only the one, start again on Monday - what a weekend without a drink, how dull. Not listening, fingers in ears, nice food to look forward to and waking up tomorrow feeling good. We can do this...

Here it is Friday and the first weekend in
October with beautiful Fall weather right
here in Good Ol Baton Rouge.

No alcohol. No voices trying to seep in
my brain about drinking cause I aint gonna
have it. It just aint gonna happen.

I love Fall weather and yes I remember
those first days, months, holidays after
returning home from a 28 day instay
at a rehab facility/hospital . A place I
needed to be because I was sick with
my alcohol addiction.

I took the lessons they taught me about
my addiction, incorporated some helpful
useful tool of a recovery program to my
everyday life and followed many suggestions
passed on to me to learn to live each day
without reaching for poison to solve my
problems.

Over the yrs. I listened to many members
in recovery share their own ESH - experiences,
strengths and hopes of what their lives were
and are like before, during and after addiction
in order to achieve happy, healthy and honest
lives for a many one days at a time.

It was a learning process sometimes fast,
sometimes slow, sometimes easy, sometimes
a set back but never did I pick up alcohol
to solve lifes problems.

I always knew that if I ever drank then I
would return to the same miserable sick
life I use to be in. There was never a doubt
that I could ever drink successfully in my
own life. I admitted and accepted that fact
and nothing can ever make me believe other
wise I can or could.

Then the belief that following a program
of recovery, a guideline to living my life sober
would and has become my spiritual path in life.

I love the Fall Weekends with sitting outside
enjoying the cooler tempts, the warmth and
shine of the sun on me, the flowers still in bloom,
butterflies and birds entertaining me. This evening
ill be right back outside still enjoying the sun
setting, knowing others will be doing their own
things for the weekend, football games all the
while we will be safe and sound in our own home,
away from noise which is a gift for us to enjoy
now that we are sober.

I had to learn quiet. Appreciate calmness, serenity,
peace of mind after all the caos that came with my
drinking. I don't miss it in the least but like I said
earlier, it took me learning and practicing new healthy
ways to enjoy my time without killing myself with
poison.

You will too each day you move further
away from your own addiction. Be patient
and kind with yourself because we all deserve
it.

Great, London Lucy! I'm getting a Mani Pedi, which I dislike as it's going on, but love to look nice when it's done. Just feeling a little better about myself today. Those videos hit home for me. Whoa...

Still going! Went to my favorite SMART meeting yesterday and it was really helpful. I'm planning out next week. I'm always up half the night (thank you, menopause and alcohol) so I'm going to walk a mile up to the 6:45 am AA meeting that I like M-F, walk home, and work 9-12. That'll get the day started. Another trigger for me was driving up to the mailbox store to get my mail when it came in at 2:30. There's no way home without passing at least five bars, and hey, it's happy hour, I'll just stop in for one! (Then, four hours later...) So if I just get my mail the following morning -- it's near the AA location -- no bars will be open. I may try to go to an AA meeting this afternoon too. Am feeling much better physically.
