Setback

Still sober, just a setback in the progress i was making with my job changing. Had an accident Sunday and lost my big toe, a bit of the top of my foot and slit my second toe pretty bad. Little upset about it but I look at it like it could of been way worse. No need to drink when I get out the hospital and no reason to stay mad at something I cant change.

Wow! Ouch!!

How long did they say it's going to take to recover from that? Hope it is quickly!

Couple weeks. Had 1 of 3 surgeries so far. May take a month to get back use to walking normal. Just lucky I made it to the hospital I'm in now. The first one didn't do anything but clean my wound but sent me home with a torn vessel and artery and open bone all bleeding out. About 50 hours of zigzagging pain prior to getting real help. I mad at first but I'm better now

Glad you are ok.

Wow..glad to hear you are receiving the care you need and that you are OK. And kudos for keeping things in perspective in regards to drinking, that's huge.

Geez, glad you did not get an infection going with that.

Congrats on staying sober through all of this.

Jim

Hey TNT, that sounds awful! Good for you for staying focused on your sobriety. Sending healing thoughts your way.

Hevyn 10-01-2015 10:46 AM

TNT - how terrible for you. I hope it heals quickly & isn't too painful. I admire your determination to not fall back on alcohol. It never helps us cope, just makes everything more miserable.

Soberwolf 10-01-2015 10:49 AM

Hope your foot heals as well as possible

Ruby2 10-01-2015 10:54 AM

Wow, I'm sorry you lost your toe. I'm sending wishes for a speedy recovery.

Kallistia 10-01-2015 11:06 AM

If people ask, you can just tell them that one went to the market :)

Kaily 10-01-2015 12:06 PM

Wow -- I'm so sorry to hear about that. I hope your recovery goes well and that you're not dealing with a lot of pain anymore.

I'd also like to thank you, TNT.

Many times, life can deal unfair hands. Things that are painful, unkind, frustrating and even life-changing. Drinking does nothing to make them better or make them go away. Your post has shown us that we can maintain sobriety even when we have to deal with seriously unpleasant stuff. I think that's a real service to our community.
