Sobering up when you're a pathetic nobody

At AA meetings I see people in their 70s getting sober for the first time. It's never too late. Hey, just by not drinking you save some money and you will feel a little better. No pounding headaches when you wake up. Other things will fall into place. It just takes time. You can do it and your life will get better. Remember alcohol is a depressant. Start today
I hope you're OK. I was very touched by that story because we share many of the same emotions. Good luck in your recovery, drinking will only make things worse but I'm sure you already know that.
Marney, I am just now catching this thread.
Great advice above.
SR is a great place for support; we understand where you are and how difficult this can be.
I hope you come back and post again.

Marney, if you come back and see this — what about taking a week or two to go home and stay with your family? You need to put the brakes on now, before you get swept away in it (I've had a lot of relapses, I have so much empathy for how quickly we can fall down again). Being around family, being able to spend time with and help your mother, might be the reset button you need.
