Amazing what can be accomplished with a clear and sober mind

Today is day 9 sober after a relapse. During which I lost my job and almost lost my fiance. I had an interview this morning for a fleet manager position for a major trucking company in the US and it went great!! I am supposed to hear back at some point today with an offer. Amazingly it's a lot more money than the job I lost during my relapse and better hours. The interview was tough but because I'm sober and my brain is firing on all cylinders, for the most, part I was able to formulate great answers and make a good impression. Feeling great and very confident in my sobriety today. Of course when I left the first thing that came to my head was "yay let's celebrate with some booze" but I squashed that bug pretty quickly and came home and made breakfast for my fiance and myself instead. Hope everyone is having a good Friday and a sober weekend.

Everything happens for a reason, and perhaps this last relapse was a lesson for the future and a push in the right direction with a new job for a better life. Funny how we, as alcoholics, immediately think of drinking as the default way to celebrate. Good for you to go home and make breakfast for your fiance instead. She is probably very proud of you. Keep it up and you will continue to see the light in her eyes. Have a great and sober weekend!
