September cold

I have a bad September cold, first real bad one I have had sober. I used to just drink tons of hard liquor if I ever got one in the past. Eventually they went away and I just felt the end of the cold or a bad hangover/withdrawl. I will say as bad as this is it is still way less painful that the days after a bender, those days really were the worst.

Any suggestions to cope, alcohol free?

Only thing I know is good for a cold is keep your fluids up - water or juice.
Hope you'll feel better in a day or two

Herbal tea, a comfy blanket, and lots of rest I have found I get sick a lot less now that I'm sober. Hope this happens to you too!

Hot water, honey, brown sugar, and lemon juice.

Ok, I really don't know... it's an old remedy from my grandparents, and I still use it at least.

OTC meds, hot tea, lots of orange juice (vitamin C!), and rest. Hope you feel better!

I like lemon tea, with honey, and a squeeze of lemon. The honey helps with your throat and I think the lemon has some kind of cleansing properties that helps with a cold. I also like the zinc lozenges.

I never do well with OTC cold meds, and if it gets bad, I take some ibuprofen.

Interesting, when I drank daily, I never got sick. Ever. I think the alcohol killed all the bugs. Being sober I get sick more often (but thankfully still not much). I would suggest the usual remedies. I'll take a cold over a severe hangover or withdrawal any day of the week.

I do notice I get sick less, almost at nine months and haven't had a sick day yet. Had plenty of hangover "sick" days in the past though.

A bad hangover is the worst, even when I was used to them. At least I can function somewhat and not feel like I am going to die.

Honey/Lemon, green teas, plenty of rest, try to eat.

In the past I used to think alcohol was helping, but now I realise the body had to deal with processing the alcohol as well as dealing with the sickness.

Let your body do what can naturally do, without putting it under anymore unnecessary strain!!

Get well soon!!

Chicken broth with a ton of garlic and fresh ginger boiled together.

I use over the counter cold medication but make sure it is a daytime formula as the night time formulas typically contain alcohol.

I hope you feel better soon.
