exercise and eating well are good things but they won't stop the alcoholic obsession neo.

There's some really good ideas on recovery groups and finding support, dealing with cravings and making recovery plans here:

You'll get out what you put into a recovery plan

Been there, done that. As I long as I believe I can still wrest some satisfaction and get some ease and comfort without dire consequences, I will continue to try and treat my alcoholism with alcohol and drugs.

Eventually, my disease beat me into submission and made me realize that was a delusion of control. Unfortunately, the delusion of control driven by the alcoholic mind is so strong that it will remain in place until many alcoholics have lost everything, killed themselves or ended up institutionalized.

I always believed I could take a few drinks and just go back to AA before it got too bad or had any serious consequences. Boy was I wrong. Hopefully, that does not have to happen to you.

Hang in there. Go to meetings. Get a support network in real life. Good luck.

Hi.
Exercise and other good things could never keep me sober for more than a few days.

I needed to open my eyes and be honest with myself about my drinking and ACCEPT the fact I cannot drink in safety one day at a time in a row because I’m allergic to alcohol and my life becomes unmanageable when drinking.

I’m grateful I haven’t had a desire to drink for a lot of years because long term recovery requires work coupled with changes which the fellowship guided me with, like it or not it works if we work it.

BE WELL

I don't know at the moment Kamm as crazy as this might sound I know if I get a few weeks under my belt my mindset will change and I will be able to resist. I just can't seem to get over the hurdle of day seven.

I think you've got that bass-ackward Neo.

Change your mindset first- work on that plan - find support, use it,. and make some real changes - and you'll soon have some lasting sober time

You can't make an omelette without breaking some eggs, right?...time to break some eggs man...do something different
