watching the sunset

I met with some friends tonight , all who drink, while outside on the golf course watching the sunset. Was worried about this night for a while but reading many posts from here about "just having one or two" I knew I could not do it. I am almost at 100 days and could not imagine waking up tomorrow and sarting over. Actually I know the way I am and I would not start over I would just continue drinking for who knows how long maybe forever as this is the first time in my life and I am almost 50, that I have been sober. I thank everyone for their posts . I truly believe I could not have done this without SR.

Good on ya, Skipper! SR is GREAT support, but the person must be ready to accept that support and do what needs to be done. Sounds like you are there. Congratulations!

Congratulations! Situations like that really test you. When I travel for work, EVERYONE I'm with is drinking and always look at me like I'm weird because I won't have just one beer. But I know how that will end and it sounds like you do as well. Well done on staying strong!

I'm happy for you that you stayed strong, Skipper! It's so not worth it.

Good call, Skipper! That's the way I see it, too. I can't get cocky. Just because I managed to quit once doesn't mean I can automatically do it again if I slip up. Better to avoid the issue before it can start.

I used to get triggered by sunsets, beautiful places, etc. At 100 days that would be tough. Absolutely great job friend.

Congratulations! That is very awesome!

It's amazing how wonderful and beautiful the sunrises and sunsets are when you're sober. The sunrise this morning had me in tears it was so outstanding... I was driving to work debating taking an extra 1/2 hour and driving down to the lakefront (Lake Michigan) to go watch the rest of the sunrise. I should have. LOL

That is (one) of the thoughts I keep fresh in my mind
that helps to keep me sober today.

Fantastic, well done. That's a serious flex of that sober muscle, with a lovely sunset as a reward too. Good for you xx
