Day 1 done
Hi. This is my first post, although I've been reading the forums for a few days & feel ready to get on board. I've struggled with alcohol for 10 years or so, initially binge drinking 2 or 3 nights a week, then 1 night on 1 night off but have been drinking every night for 4 or 5 years. Enough is enough, I'm sick & tired of feeling sick & tired. I know this won't be easy, that persuasive little voice had to be told where to go a few times this evening & I have tried & failed before. But this time, 1 day at a time I will get through this.
Welcome to SR mtbr! You've made a great choice and I commend you on your decision to quit. Stay close and take care of yourself, these first few days can be very rough. Don't be afraid to ask for help here or locally via your family, doctor, etc.
Welcome to SR and congrats on your first day.
At my endpoint I was also sick and tired of being sick and tired. Try and look after yourself for the first few days. I found taking walks helped.
All the best

Thanks again everyone for the messages. I feel ok today thanks SereneEdition, tired but feeling positive still. Grocery shopping done without crumbling so I'm home & dry, cooking dinner for me & my eldest son, sober, yay! Yes we can JP519!
Welcome mtbr, and glad to have you here! I'm on day 16, and that insidious voice (AV) can be quite persuasive. But you recognize it as just that - a little voice. It's not you and you have control over it. I keep reminding myself of that and it seems to help, especially when I tell it to Shut The He!! Up. Stay with it and congrats on the first step!
