Exclamation Hi

Returning after a time. Thought I was 'cured' blah blah blah... you've heard it before I'm sure.

Still not sure why I drank so much. Seemed to fill a hole if that makes sense. Nearly broke up with my partner last night - I was yelling, swearing, saying stuff I didn't mean. The fight escalated from something that should have been smaller.

I don't remember big chunks of it. But waking up this morning and realising was..awful.

Anyway. Day 1 starting now no more alcohol. Just wanted to say hi and maybe find some people that understand.

Congrats on day 1....

I understand....

Even my wife and son get so bored quickly when I talk more than 2 sentences about my recovery...

We listen here 24/7....

Have you read Bill's Story, pg 13, para. 2...in the AA BB...it flips swithes...

Welcome back PeacefulFreedom. Yes, we all understand. Most of us have been there more than once. Never give up trying. You did great setting another Day 1. You probably won't be feeling very good today, so it will be good to spend a large portion of the day reading and posting here. It surely will help to reinforce your desire to stay alcohol free and you will be stronger each time you read and post. Hang in there.

Hi and as said welcome.
For me this period was shaky until I did several things. One was become honest about my drinking and accept the fact that I cannot drink in safety one day at a time in a row.

That’s really the easy part next is “filling the void alcohol commanded.” That includes words: it takes time, we need to get to work and change the person who we were drinking. These simple words are simple when we want to obtain long recovery which includes being comfortable with ourselves.

I was encouraged by hearing the words KEEP COMING!

BE WELL

Makes perfect sense to this alkie. I've heard it many times in AA meetings...often described as a 'God-shaped-hole'. And by God, I don't mean the one in the bible...I mean a power greater than myself of my own understanding.

I think most of us "understand". Alcohol for people like us is pure destruction. Congrats on day 1.
