FIGHTING The Happy Hour Urge
Hello and welcome.
The hot spots are going to be open tonight, tomorrow night and every day thereafter.
You can survive without them and they can survive without you.
What lay ahead if you go? Can you control your drinking? Will it be a good time without drinking? Is it worth it to find out?
When I had two years of sobriety behind me I wanted an extra job. I got one at the most exclusive night club in the Southeast, running the sound and lights.
I met a sober DJ on one night, in fact, most of the DJs didn't drink or drank very little.
I met celebrities who were just there to dance and have a good time, not to get drunk.
My point is, temptation is always going to be there. At clubs, they will survive without you.
Pretty soon, if you don't drink, it may not suck. There are other things to do.
Sober.
I feel for you. I spent half a life time in bars and clubs. Now, after over four and a half years sober, I've found other more productive ways to entertain myself.
But you know what I miss? Watching people dance. I love to watch people dance. Except the drunks, they are more pathetic than anything.
Anyway, best to you. There is life after the clubs. A sober one. A good one. I know where you're coming from.
I wish you the best.

My old life was over and I had to reinvent a new sober life filled all of the wonderful sober activities there are to do.
Remind yourself what happens when you go to hot spots and they won't look all that hot

The words happy hour are for people who can drink happily for an hour with a drink or two then get about their healthy life style.
People like me want to extend that hour into the next one etc.
For me from the first minute on would not be a happy outcome in so many ways.
An alcoholic must think the drink through, honestly.
BE WELL
