Just got my first DUI. I was doing so well....what's in store for me?
I'm glad you're doing well, JPhere.
I think it's wise to say little in front of AA members - or in meetings. Keep it to general recovery. Some people in AA and some people in real life are not the safest people with whom to share personal details.
I hope your job goes well.

Just a brief update. I went to my sixth meeting today. Start a new job next week making decent money. As long as all goes well with that I think I'll get through this. Thanks for the support.
One thing I don't like about AA meetings is the gossip. There are some who've been frequenting a few meetings daily for years. They know everyone, talk about them, etc. That's kind of a downer. It's nice to talk about things openly but I wish they'd leave people who aren't there out of it.
Because of that I try not to say too much. Still helpful I suppose.

'Look around your AA group. Who among them are the most respected? Those who are focused, who are loving and trustworthy... those who would gain nothing through trifling gossip. Those who turn from gossip.. as if to recoil from a hot flame. Stick with these winners, and you will indeed begin to feel better about all this, I'd be willing to bet on it.'
Glad everything's going well.
From what I have seen -- that's where some real pain starts.
A nice middle age man that we let keep bees up here
recently did 7 months in jail due to DUI's received.

Whatever the case may be, it was a wakeup call and a half. I've been very lucky over the years when it comes to this. Just about everyone I know has some experience with drinking and driving. Not just 'alcoholics'. Not proud of that at all. It's so easy to think you're invincible.
I was talking to a guy today who has 7 DUIs. How does someone not end up in prison before getting that many? That's the last thing I want.
